Introduction to Signs of Safety

This course is primarily aimed at Level 3: Professionals working with children, young people and/or their parents who contribute to assessing and intervening where there are safeguarding concerns.

Outline

This course is aimed at Level 3 practitioners and can therefore be counted as a mandatory Safeguarding update.

The program provides an introduction to the Signs of Safety Practice model, including the principles and philosophy that underpins it. It will present the model in the contexts of working with partners in Doncaster; looking at its use through children’s Services case studies, examples of when / how partners will encounter it, and can contribute to its application across the Doncaster partnership.

THIS INTRODUCTION MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE YOU WOULD BE GIVEN A PLACE ON THE 2 DAY COURSE.

Description

Learning objectives:
o To develop a general understanding of the Signs of Safety model;
o To understand the Signs of Safety language and situations when likely to come across it in use;
o To have an overview of the how to apply / contribute to a Signs of Safety approach;
o To build confidence in use and contribution to a Signs of Safety approach;
o To have knowledge of how to gain further support and advice when applying a signs of safety approach to working with children and families in Doncaster.
