Childminder Role of SENDCO training

Outline

is a legal requirement that all Childminders have a duty to treat all children equally according to their needs to help them develop their full potential. As Childminders you must consider whether a child may have a special education need and/or a disability which requires specialist support.
Childminders registered on the Early Years Register must adhere to the following;
The Statutory Framework for the Early Year’s Foundation Stage which states:
Providers must have arrangements in place to support children with SEN or disabilities maintained schools, maintained nursery schools and other providers who are funded by the local authority to deliver early education places must have regard to the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice. Childminders are encouraged to identify a person to act as a SENCO and childminders who are registered with a childminder agency or who are part of a network may wish to share a role between them.

Description

COURSE DETAILS:
  • To enable participants to have an understanding of the Special Education Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0 -25 years (January 2015)
  • To enable participants to acquire basic skills and strategies for the SENCO role
  • To raise awareness of SEND and current issues in SEND
  • To enable participants to write effective targets/learning outcomes and support staff to plan appropriate outcomes for children with SEND

  • Refer to the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and note/highlight all references to SEND.
